Float Committee 2025

Significance & Selection Process

The Rave The Planet Parade stands for diversity and the core values of a peaceful, free, and tolerant community. This year, we’re even more focused on increasing community involvement and creating a space where more people can actively participate (Parade team 2025, Jobs at RTP). A key part of this process is the Float Committee, which is responsible for selecting the float crews that will be part of the parade. Over the years, we’ve been supported by many cultural figures, and this year, for the first time, we’ve managed to create a perfectly balanced team. Wondering what this means and how the selection process works? Keep reading to find out!

The Float Committee: A Collective Process for Our Community

The Float Committee consists of a jury made up equally of Rave The Planet team members and independent cultural creators from Berlin, including artists, event organizers, clubs, and other important figures from the Berlin cultural scene. Why this composition? It’s simple: we want to encourage a democratic process within the scene and give more people the chance to participate. Inclusion is key to us. We believe the selection process must be both transparent and inclusive, promoting collaboration and shaping the parade in a way that benefits the entire community.

How the Selection Process Works

Before the committee makes its final decisions, our team carefully reviews all applications to ensure they are complete and meet the participation criteria. Incomplete applications or “joke submissions” are immediately filtered out. We also make sure that all crews and artists align with the core values of electronic music culture. Any submissions that violate our Code of Conduct are disqualified.

Once this initial review is done, the committee members receive the qualified applications to assess. There are four key criteria used to evaluate the applications:

  • Authenticity of the float crews
  • Musical concept
  • Design
  • Sustainability (environmental measures)

We pay special attention to diversity within the lineups—such as balanced gender representation—and the overall variety of genres featured in the parade. The evaluation is based on a grading system from 1 (excellent) to 6 (insufficient), and each committee member assigns an individual final grade for every float. These grades are then combined into an overall score.

After the selection process, all applicants will be informed whether they’ve been accepted. Then, cooperation agreements are signed, and the official announcement will follow, expected between mid and late March.

Why a Committee is So Important

With its large number of participants (380k in 2024) and international recognition, the parade plays a crucial role in shaping the public perception of electronic music culture. This culture is made up of diverse influences and backgrounds, especially in Berlin, where Techno Culture has evolved in a unique way due to the city’s history and social conditions. Berlin is a true melting pot of cultures.

We don’t claim to speak for all these cultures. That’s why we rely on a collaborative selection process—a committee of experts and cultural creators with different perspectives and backgrounds. We invite individuals and organizations who are actively involved in creating and sustaining culture to get involved and help shape the parade. This approach ensures that the Rave The Planet Parade, as a demonstration, is an authentic reflection of electronic music culture—built by many, open to all.

The Float Committee: Voluntary Commitment to the 2025 Parade

The float selection for the 2025 parade is in the hands of dedicated volunteers. They invest their time and energy into creating a parade that represents diversity, community, and the true spirit of Techno Culture. Their commitment ensures that the parade is not only a powerful musical experience but also a strong cultural statement.

A huge thank you to the Float Committee! Without you, this parade would not be possible.

The names of this year’s committee members will be announced after the selection process is complete.
