The fifth Rave The Planet Parade concluded as scheduled on Saturday, August 15, 2026, with no significant disruptions. Under the motto “IMAGINE LOVE”, people from Berlin, across Germany, and countries around the world came together on Straße des 17. Juni to demonstrate for the protection of techno culture and for peace, freedom, diversity, respect, and social cohesion.

With 34 floats and more than 300 artists, the parade showcased the musical and cultural diversity of electronic music culture. Artists and crews traveled to Berlin from countries including India, Japan, Mongolia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, Israel, Belgium, and France.

Estimated 400,000 Participants Throughout the Day

Determining an exact attendance figure is inherently impossible for a freely accessible demonstration of this scale. There are no tickets, access controls, or comprehensive systems in place to count every person entering and leaving the demonstration area.

Based on an evaluation of the available observations and data, Rave The Planet estimates that at least approximately 400,000 people participated over the course of the demonstration day. This figure is explicitly an organizer estimate of total attendance throughout the day and does not represent the number of people present at any one time.

According to Rave The Planet’s estimates, the official demonstration area was at times more than 80 percent occupied, with approximately 250,000 people present simultaneously. In addition, large numbers of participants gathered in adjacent areas of the Großer Tiergarten. Due to the size and open nature of the park, the number of people in these areas can only be estimated.

The estimate takes into account factors including occupancy of the demonstration area at different points in time, observed crowd densities, and the substantial flow of people entering and leaving throughout the day. With temperatures reaching around 35°C (95°F) in the shade, many participants used the Tiergarten to rest and cool down. Particularly in the early evening, significant flows of people were observed moving both into and away from the demonstration area.

Peaceful Parade With Few Disruptions

The atmosphere throughout the demonstration remained peaceful and relaxed. Final figures publicly reported by emergency services and law enforcement also indicate that disruptions were limited in relation to the scale of the demonstration.

According to the final publicly reported police figures, 39 people were temporarily detained. Individual offenses recorded included fraud, insults, assault, and violations of Germany’s narcotics laws.

Despite the exceptionally high temperatures, medical operations remained manageable. A total of 651 medical assistance cases and 50 hospital transports were reported. The Berlin Fire Department described the overall situation at the parade as very calm.

According to the organizers, cooperation between the Berlin Fire Department’s emergency medical services and MOL Medical, the medical services provider commissioned by Rave The Planet, ran smoothly throughout the demonstration.

Cooperation With Police, Fire Department, and Public Authorities Further Strengthened

Rave The Planet would like to express its sincere appreciation to the Berlin Police, Berlin Fire Department, all participating public authorities and state agencies, and all other emergency and public safety personnel for their professional and exemplary cooperation.

Following the attack in connection with Berlin Pride, security measures for the Rave The Planet Parade were once again comprehensively reviewed with the relevant authorities and adjusted where necessary. Approximately 1,500 police officers were deployed on the day of the demonstration.

This process further strengthened an already close working relationship. Rave The Planet sees this cooperation as an important foundation for maintaining a constructive, solution-oriented, and mutually respectful partnership with public authorities in the years ahead.

Coordinated Action Against Illegal Sales

Another key component of the parade’s safety and public order strategy is consistent enforcement against unauthorized vendors and illegal sales in and around the parade area.

Police, public order authorities, and security personnel commissioned by Rave The Planet work closely together on this issue. Their coordinated approach is intended not only to protect authorized vendors but, more importantly, to prevent unregulated goods and beverages from being sold to participants.

In recent years, unauthorized vendors have been subject to increased inspections, merchandise has been confiscated, and administrative proceedings have been initiated. This coordinated approach has since become an established part of the parade’s overall safety strategy.

Waste Levels Remain Significantly Below Previous Years

The longer-term trend in waste generated around the parade also continues to show positive development.

According to Berlin’s municipal sanitation service, BSR, approximately 80 cubic meters of waste were collected following this year’s parade. The figure was 76 cubic meters in 2025, 110 cubic meters in 2024, and approximately 145 cubic meters in 2023. While the volume collected by BSR in 2026 was therefore slightly higher than last year, it was approximately 27 percent lower than in 2024 and 45 percent lower than in 2023. Around 120 BSR employees and 50 vehicles were deployed.

For perspective, comparing the 80 cubic meters collected by BSR with Rave The Planet’s estimated minimum total attendance of 400,000 people throughout the day results in approximately 0.2 liters of BSR-collected waste per person.

This figure is expressly intended as a mathematical illustration based on the organizer’s attendance estimate and is not a metric provided by BSR. It does, however, demonstrate the importance of considering absolute waste volumes in relation to the number of people attending an event of this scale.

140 Volunteers Join Clean-Up Day in the Großer Tiergarten

For Rave The Planet, responsibility does not end when the demonstration is over.

On Sunday following the parade, approximately 140 volunteers came together for the Rave The Planet Clean-Up Day. From 11:00 a.m. to 6:20 p.m., the teams cleaned areas of the Großer Tiergarten that had been designated in advance in coordination with the responsible Roads and Parks Department.

According to Rave The Planet’s internal records, volunteers collected an average of approximately 180 liters of loose waste per person – a total of approximately 25,200 liters, or 25.2 cubic meters of waste. Although the Clean-Up Day had originally been scheduled to continue until 7:00 p.m., the teams completed the work approximately 40 minutes ahead of schedule.

The waste volumes collected during Clean-Up Day are not directly comparable with BSR’s figures. Rave The Planet records loose waste collected by volunteers in trash bags, while BSR reports its waste volumes according to its own operational procedures. The two figures are therefore deliberately reported separately.

For Rave The Planet, Clean-Up Day is much more than a post-parade cleanup effort. It reflects a fundamental principle of the parade: When we share public space, we also share responsibility for it.

Hundreds of Volunteers Make the Parade Possible

In addition to the 140 volunteers participating in Clean-Up Day, hundreds of volunteers from Berlin, across Germany, and abroad were already working throughout the parade on Saturday.

They supported the demonstration in a wide range of roles, including as stewards, members of awareness teams and the Eco Team, as well as in decoration, setup and breakdown, organization, logistics, and many other areas. This international and cross-generational participation is an essential part of what defines Rave The Planet.

IMAGINE LOVE: The Parade Remains a Political Demonstration

While Rave The Planet is pleased with the successful outcome of this year’s parade, its political purpose remains at the heart of the demonstration.

The parade opened with a joint speech by Julia Miosga, Board Member of Berliner CSD e.V. (Berlin Pride); Anna-Maria Seifert, Co-Director of Karneval der Kulturen; and Ellen Dosch-Roeingh, Project Lead of the Rave The Planet Parade.

Their joint appearance represented a commitment to closer cooperation among major Berlin demonstrations and cultural movements – and to the values that unite them beyond their respective areas of focus: freedom, diversity, respect, social participation, and peaceful coexistence.

Under the motto IMAGINE LOVE, Rave The Planet emphasized that social change begins with the way we choose to approach one another: thoughts shape words, words shape actions – and actions shape society.

Rave The Planet therefore continues to demonstrate for the protection and recognition of electronic music culture, the preservation of cultural spaces and clubs, equal recognition of electronic music culture alongside other established cultural forms, as well as peace, disarmament, diversity, and social cohesion.

The recognition of Techno Culture in Berlin as Intangible Cultural Heritage by the German Commission for UNESCO was a major milestone. From Rave The Planet’s perspective, this recognition must now be followed by concrete and sustained cultural policy measures.

IMAGINE LOVE was therefore more than the motto of a parade in 2026. It was – and remains – a call to action and a call for a shared mindset.
