Techno meets UNESCO: Certificate Ceremony in Wiesbaden
Honoring Techno Culture as Intangible Cultural Heritage
After “Techno Culture in Berlin” was officially recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage by the German UNESCO Commission in March 2024, the ceremonial presentation of the certificate will take place on October 22, 2024, at Schloss Biebrich in Wiesbaden. This special moment honors the unique contribution of techno culture to the cultural life of Berlin and Germany.
Alongside five other new additions to the UNESCO list, such as the Schwalm White Embroidery from Hesse and the Kirchseeon Perchtenlauf, Rave The Planet, as the applicant for “Techno Culture in Berlin”, will receive the certificate. It’s a significant moment for our team, which has been working towards this recognition since 2011, and for the entire rave community.
Press Conference with the Minister of Culture, UNESCO, and Cultural Representatives
Before the event, there will be a press conference where, in addition to Hesse’s Minister of Culture Timon Gremmels, Christoph Wulf, Chair of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Committee, and representatives of the recognized cultural forms will speak. Representing Rave The Planet, our team member Ellen, Creative Director and Head of PR, will be on stage.
